Dr. Joshua Louwersheimer, or Dr. Josh as most of his patients refer to him, is originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He has always had a passion for sports and athletics, and as well the desire to serve in the health care field. Being an athlete himself all through grade school, he competed in many sports including soccer, speed skating, karate, volleyball, basketball, track & field, football, and rugby. His focus became solely football and rugby throughout high school while graduating with top honors.

Before pursuing his medical training, Dr. Josh earned a Certificate of Theology while attending a school in southwestern Germany. He had the privilege of studying abroad and traveling across all of Western Europe, while completing his education overseas. He then returned to Calgary and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), majoring in Biological Sciences and double minors in Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics. It was during this time that he competed as a member of the University of Calgary football team.

Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he attended Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN where he graduated Summa Cum Laude as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) in 2007. He then completed his post graduate studies as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) while working in Orlando, FL. Over the next several years, he was the Chiropractor for high school, collegiate, Olympic, and professional athletes, as well as for several competitive teams including rugby, mixed martial arts, hockey, football, and track & field.

When the opportunity to return west to the Rocky Mountains presented itself, Dr. Josh jumped at the opportunity and made the transition to Helena, MT where he has been practicing since 2012. To further his capabilities in treating athletes and patients with neuromusculoskeletal injuries, he completed training in Active Release Techniques (ART), which is an extremely effective soft tissue lengthening technique. This is only one of several soft tissue techniques Dr. Josh has completed training in, but it is highly sought after by competitive athletes nationally and internationally.

Currently, Dr. Josh is the Team Chiropractor for the Helena Big Horns NA3HL hockey team, treating the players to speed up recovery and ensure that they are playing and functioning to the best of their abilities. You can find him behind the bench at all home games. Be sure to support your local hockey team Helena and attend some games this season! Go Big Horns!

Dozens of hours of continuing education are taken in by Dr. Josh yearly relating to the latest research on treating neuromusculoskeletal conditions, including advances in the latest techniques and treatments. He has been a member of the American Chiropractic Association, the North Carolina Chiropractic Association, the Florida Chiropractic Association, and the Florida Chiropractic Physicians Association, and is adding the Montana Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Josh and his wife live in York, MT with their four kids. He is active in his community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the York Volunteer Fire Department, and a Bow Hunter Education Instructor with Montana Fish, Wildlife, & Parks (FWP). As an avid outdoorsman, you will frequently find him hiking, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, and enjoying the great outdoors! He and his wife are active in their church in Helena, both volunteering and teaching, and have an interest in global mission work. As a family they trained for future mission relief work in developing countries. Dr. Josh has served in hospitals and clinics when he lived in West Africa, specifically in Nigeria, Ghana, and Burkina Faso. He has a desire to continue to treat, serve, and educate others in Chiropractic care, injury prevention, nutrition, general wellness, and athletic performance in these countries where they lack the training and resources.
